Repair and Unit Exchange Parts
UX PARTS PROGRAM
Repair and Unit Exchange Parts Program
Cooper operates numerous service locations in the United States and worldwide, each staffed by experienced personnel and equipped to restore most makes of large reciprocating engines and compressors to latest design specifications. We inspect and evaluate used cores and remanufacture them to our exacting standards. Our repair and unit exchange parts program services include valve reconditioning, camshaft re-lobing, head and cylinder reconditioning, water pump repair, performance monitoring, turbocharge repair, and much more.
When you can’t afford a shutdown during an engine overhaul, Cooper’s unit exchange (UX) program offers a number of attractive benefits. Fully certified exchange units are delivered to your site before any work begins, assuming any necessary downtime is minimal. We hold an expansive exchange stock, which currently houses ready-to-go parts for AJAX®, CAT, Clark, Cooper-Bessemer®, Enterprise®, Gemini®, Ingersoll Rand, Superior®, Waukesha, and Worthington engines and compressors. Parts offered include power cylinders and liners, power cylinder heads, master rods, articulated rods, crossheads, guides, water and oil pumps, and valves.
Best of all, Cooper’s unit exchange parts and engines are cost-effective and environmentally friendly. Utilizing unit exchange equipment allows our customers avoid the cost of new products and spares the environment from the impact of new production.

Technology
Each UX part is remanufactured to either the original or latest design specifications by incorporating all service bulletins to ensure the best performance, uptime, and availability.
Reliability
Our O.E.M. perspective and engineering expertise encompassing both power and compression uniquely qualifies us to remanufacture parts. All our parts are backed by our standard UX parts warranty.
Operating Expenditures
UX parts can be 30-60% cheaper than new O.E.M. parts and are durable to ensure the best return on investment.
Environmental Impact
UX parts represent a more efficient utilization of manufacturing materials and consumption of energy.

Power Cylinder Heads
All UX power cylinder heads are thoroughly inspected, tested, and assembled using all new parts. Turnkey repairs are performed in-house at a Cooper center of excellence or service shop. Cooper facilities stock a broad selection of both two-stroke and four-stroke engine power cylinder heads.
Power Cylinders and Liners
UX power cylinders and liners are inspected for cracks and leaks. They are relined or restored with chrome plating. A broad selection of power cylinders and liners for several different O.E.M. and third-party engine brands are stocked at Cooper's facilities.
Power Connecting Rods
All UX power connecting rods are thoroughly inspected. Checks are performed for any twisting or bending in the rod. Rods are clip-bored if necessary. Brand new bushings are installed.
Crosshead
All crossheads are thoroughly inspected via trueness and dimensional checks against the O.E.M. drawings. Crosshead will be NDT checked for cracks. Pin bore geometry checks are performed for size and tapper. All crossheads will be assembled with new O.E.M. bushings and shoes, which could be either new or refurbished. Great care is taken to ensure the shoes are centered and measured for proper running clearances.
Crosshead Guides
All crosshead guides are thoroughly inspected via trueness and dimensional checks against the O.E.M. drawing. Guides will be NDT checked for cracks. All mounting faces that include the register cylinder fit will be verified to be true to the slide for proper cylinder to engine alignment. Slides will be free of defects and within acceptable limits of tapper outlined by engineering. The slides will be stoned with a nice crosshead hatch finish for optimal oil retention and all bolt holes will be chase tapped. Equipment is painted.
Water Pumps
All water pumps are disassembled, cleaned, and inspected against O.E.M. tolerances. Pumps are rebuild with all new seals and gaskets. Internal components not meeting O.E.M. specs will either be repaired or replaced. After assembly, all pumps are water-tested to ensure all internal seals are not compromised before being prepared for storage or shipment.
Oil Pumps
All oil pumps are disassembled, cleaned, and inspected against O.E.M. tolerances. Pumps are rebuild with all new seals and gaskets. Internal components not meeting O.E.M. specification will either be repaired or replaced. After assembly, all pumps are water-tested to ensure all internal seals are not compromised before being prepared for storage or shipment.
