As part of our Emerging Legends™ series of new products and services, we are excited to provide refurbished and repackaged gas compression packages to our compression customers. For customers who are budget-conscious and/or have an immediate need for compression, a used package from Cooper is the right choice. The lead times for a used package will be much shorter compared to a newly built package, and our O.E.M. certified refurbished packages carry the same warranties and guarantees as our new compressors. And, best of all, you will avoid the expense and environmental impact of purchasing a newly-built engine-compressor set.

Based on your compression requirements, Cooper provides engineering services to perform sizing calculations and then searches the world for used compression packages to fit your needs. From providing as-is packaging for quick deployment to fully engineered customer specified packages, Cooper has it covered. Cooper offers the used packages in multiple forms: (1) Ready-To-Go packages; (2) Make Ready packages; (3) Overhauled packages; or (4) Reconfigured packages. Additionally, Cooper provides installation and commissioning (I&C) services to have your unit operating in the shortest time possible.

As the O.E.M. of legendary compressor and engine products, and provider of parts, service, repairs, and overhaul kits for CAT and Waukesha brand engines, Cooper has a unique advantage in providing re-packaging services. We refurbish compressor and engine brands such as AJAX, Ariel, CAT, Chicago Pneumatics, Dresser Rand, Gemini, Joy, Superior, and Waukesha. In the process, we spare the environmental impact that the manufacturing process for new equipment produces.

We have structured our engine and compressor repackaging program to provide our customers choices and flexibility. Depending on your needs and your budget, Cooper can provide the following used package options:
  • Ready-To-Go Package
Based on the customer’s performance needs and other specifications, we will find a used package that is immediately available with low running hours for fastest and lowest cost deployment. Cooper will provide O.E.M. parts and field services to support start-up and continued operation.
  • Make Ready Package
Where cost and time-to-deploy is the primary deciding factors, Cooper will make your units ready for use with the minimum amount of repairs necessary to ensure you receive a ready-to run unit. We will fix any components that are not in running condition, and we will provide the customer a field-ready compression package.
  • Overhauled Package
We will perform a complete overhaul of a customer-owned package or provide a zero-hour overhauled package including major components such as compressor, driver (either engine or electric motor), scrubbers and heat exchangers. Cooper also provides a warranty on the overhauled O.E.M. major components.
  • Repackaging
For customer-owned idle compression assets, repackaging might be the best option over new. After performing sizing and condition calculations, Cooper will determine the new package configuration required for reapplication. Based on the findings, we will install new or used cylinders and associated componentry. The objective is to keep the reconfiguration to a minimum to meet the customer’s requirements and minimize the package cost and the time to make needed changes. Cooper provides ISO13631 specifications as standard but can custom design to meet customer needs.
  • Installation & Commissioning (I&C)
Cooper is a one-stop shop for all of your used compression equipment needs. Experienced and highly-skilled Cooper service representatives are available, worldwide, to assist with your equipment installation and commissioning. In addition to I&C, Cooper provides training at your location or online to help with the smooth operation of your equipment. Training aims to maximize equipment efficiency and build life-long skills for your personnel.
  • An ESG-Friendly Solution
Cooper takes our Environmental-Social-Governance (ESG) responsibilities very seriously. That’s why we consider the ESG impact of every new product or service we bring to market. Our Odessa, Texas service facility, established in 1990, serves as our Cooper Center of Excellence (C.O.E.) for complete overhauling and reconfiguration of compressor packages to include AJAX, Caterpillar, Gemini, Superior and Waukesha. The C.O.E. has full testing capabilities for engines, compressors, and complete packages. Over the decades, Cooper’s packaging engineers have gained extensive knowledge and experience in compression package sizing and designing to all industry standards and specifications, and our O.E.M.-trained mechanics have built or reconfigured thousands of packages.
