GEMINI OVERVIEW

Cooper offers the Gemini line of API 11P high-speed reciprocating compressors, providing our customers with economic, flexible, and reliable solutions to meet their gas compression needs. Our high-speed reciprocating products range from 60 hp (45 kW) to 7,200 hp (5,370 kW), with a variety of piston rod load capacities and frame stroke combinations. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, over 15,000 of our compressors can be found around the globe, working in fuel-gas boosting, gas gathering, gas lift, compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling, and pipeline and storage/withdrawal applications.

As the OEM, Cooper provides technology and engineering services for Gemini separable compressors. With our advanced technologies, expertise, and project management experience, we offer Gemini compressors upgrades to improve efficiency, reliability, and maintenance costs.

To further strengthen our upgrade portfolio for Gemini separable compressors, Cooper acquired HOERBIGER’s Engines Services (HES) division in 2019. Cooper now offers even more upgrade technologies for all our engine and compressor lines, including Gemini.

Gemini’s legacy dates to 1870 when August Witte opened Witte Iron Works in Kansas City, Kansas. For decades after, August and his son, Ed Witte, continued to grow their business producing gasoline and diesel engines for generators and agriculture use. Gemini Motors bought Witte Engine and converted the engine for natural gas usage and compression.

Energy Industries was established in 1969 by B. D. Holt and Mark Hulings. Energy Industries provided gas compression powered by Caterpillar engines, and they had purchased the line of high-speed compressors from Chicago Pneumatic, redesigning the compressors and cylinders into the high-speed compressor that we know today.

Gemini eventually bought Energy Industries to expand the line of high-speed compression that would evolved into the Gemini equipment of today.
